About

My name is Hannah Brackenbury and I’m a freelance photographer based in Worthing, West Sussex. I trained with the Derby Telegraph where I worked for 7 years from 2002-2009, covering all manner of local events, breaking news stories, sports matches including Premier League football, and a huge variety of family, school, business and corporate photography assignments.

In 2009 I made the move from Derby to Brighton to pursue my other passion – music & comedy! I became established as an award-winning musical comedy performer, and you’ll still find me performing at cabaret nights, hosting local comedy events, promoting my musical web series, and even writing bespoke wedding songs! Despite my success as a performer, I’ve never really put down my camera! Over the last decade I’ve covered hundreds of PR jobs for the likes of Brighton & Hove City Council, the Royal Voluntary Service, STEM Sussex, Cardinal Newman Catholic School, and Allsorts Youth Project, as well as the occasional press job for the Argus newspaper.

I’ve also covered more than 100 weddings, taking me across the UK and even to the island of Rhodes in Greece where my cousin’s daughter got married in 2018! As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I also have a huge amount of experience covering gay weddings and civil partnership ceremonies.

As a press photographer you’re taught to work to the highest standards and to tight deadlines. My time in local press also helped to develop my people skills, dealing with people of all ages from different backgrounds, in a friendly, considerate, and professional manner. I’ve found these skills incredibly valuable as a wedding photographer, and am pleased to continue to offer a professional yet affordable wedding service to couples across Sussex and beyond.

I’m able to keep my prices low because I offer a very simple, fuss-free service. I don’t have five cameras around my neck or ten different lenses to choose from! I don’t use fancy lighting, backdrops or props, and I don’t produce prints or photo albums. Instead, my style is to keep things as easy and hassle-free as possible, using natural light wherever I can. I try to keep out of the way and to be as unobtrusive as I can throughout the day. I love people-watching, and I’m happy to wait patiently for those magic ‘candid’ moments rather than constantly interrupting the couple and their guests by asking them for endless poses. I also love nothing more than joining the party on the dance floor to capture those final fun shots at the end of the night!

If you’d like to know more, please give me a call or drop me a line via the Contact page. I’m always happy to make home visits or to meet you at your wedding venue to discuss your plans in more detail, at no extra cost.
